Bring it, Spring.

Ahhh,  Spring.   A season full of transformations. Today marks the vernal equinox, or the first day of spring. The temperatures are rising and the leaves we saw fall are now budding into lush green glories.  The days are longer, brighter and everyone seems to have a kick in their step.  Doors are open at local businesses during the day, neighbors are airing out their rugs in the midst of “spring cleaning”… so it truly is a time of growth, renewal and new life, so to speak, as we all come out of our winter hibernation routine.

We are all beginning to plant and get our patios and yards looking good. The nurseries are blooming and overflowing with hanging shrubs and gorgeous flowers.  Just as the earth and our environment need care and nuturing, so do we.   It is a season to give the same attention and care that we give our surroundings, to ourselves.  In the spirit of new beginnings this spring, let’s create some positive paths for all areas of nature, including ourselves.

Here is a great blueberry smoothie to kick-off any spring morning.  I used frozen blueberries and some beautiful red cabbage for color; but you can certainly use fresh blueberries.  xo

Blueberry Avocado Dream
adapted from Dr. Frank Lipman, “Revive

1 cup frozen organic blueberries
1/4 avocado
1 cup coconut water (or almond milk)
Juice of 1/2 lime
Stevia to taste
Couple of handfuls of spinach or green of your liking

Optional:  I added red and green cabbage and sprouts to this one.

Blend all in high speed blender until smooth and creamy.
